Terms of Service
Last updated: April 13, 2026. This is a plain-language summary for our early launch; have an attorney review before treating it as final legal text.
Agreement
By creating an account, subscribing, or using Capitol Drop, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
What we provide
Capitol Drop offers email digests and related features that summarize recent legislative activity using public data and AI-assisted analysis. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features as we improve the product, with reasonable notice when materially affects paid subscribers.
Subscriptions and billing
- Free trial: new accounts may include a limited-time trial as described at signup or on our pricing page. When the trial ends, access to paid features may require an active subscription.
- Paid plans: fees are billed in advance on a recurring basis (for example, monthly) through Stripe until you cancel. Taxes may apply where required.
- Cancellation: you may cancel your subscription at any time through Account settings. Cancellation stops future charges; it does not refund prior periods unless required by law or stated otherwise at purchase.
- Failed payments: we may suspend or downgrade access if a payment fails until the issue is resolved.
Content disclaimer
Summaries are AI-generated for informational purposes. We are not a law firm. Capitol Drop does not provide legal, financial, or tax advice. Official bill text and government sources remain the authoritative record. You are responsible for how you use the information we provide.
Intellectual property
- Our product: the digest layout, branding, explanatory copy we write, and AI-assisted summaries we produce are our content and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws, subject to the rights below.
- Public legislative text: underlying bill text and government materials from Congress.gov are generally in the public domain or otherwise freely usable as public records; our summaries are separate creative works built on top of that public information.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the service—for example, by attempting to access non-public data, interfere with other users, scrape the product in a way that harms performance, or violate applicable law. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms or threaten security.
Account termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, create risk, or where we are required to do so by law. Upon termination, provisions that reasonably should survive (such as disclaimers and liability limits) will remain in effect.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Capitol Drop and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service or reliance on digest content. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or (b) fifty U.S. dollars, except where liability cannot be limited by law.
The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, to the extent permitted by law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
